Previous Projects

A couple examples of projects from the past. I love working with natural materials, as well as salvaged and reclaimed materials. I enjoy getting away from just assembling big home improvement box store components and doing things that are a bit more custom and different. Did you see a picture on Instagram, Pinterest, or Facebook of some unique house project but you are not a DIYer? Give me a call lets talk about your vision! That being said, I do understand some things just need to get fixed quickly and on a budget, so if you have a more basic need I am here for that too.

Rustic Bath

This old wash basin was turned into a sink on tree slice counter top. Complete with custom industrial look faucet made from hardware store components. Lower walls are previously removed roofing. Outhouse style door closes in corner mini closet space. I enjoy working with non standard reclaimed materials on projects like this.

Custom Book Shelf

Custom shelf for kids bedroom to fully utilize dead space on eave wall in small bedroom with no extra room to waste

Living Room Floor

The soft pine on this 1860s living room floor was patched and re-patched and deteriorating badly. This exotic tigerwood was reclaimed from a deck demolition and refinished and repurposed to bring this floor to life. Face nailed with wood plugs and run from multiple direction to bring attention to the custom poured rounded concrete hearth-pad, also part of this project. Not every flooring project needs to be this complex, vinyl floating floors fit many styles and many budgets and can really change a space.

Basic Treehouse

Basic Treehouse with ladder and firepole. Treehouses and play places could go from mild to wild. Let me know if you want to talk about creating a custom play place.

Workshop

This is my Quonset hut style workshop. I ordered it without end walls so I could create a less industrial, custom look. Cedar shingles, with reclaimed windows and man door from previous project complete the look, along with custom sign hanger built from 1983 Honda front end. The sign itself I can't take credit for a good friend made that piece.

Mud Kitchen

This was a fun piece to make. Outdoor mud kitchen made and donated to the Moretown Elementary School preschool outdoor classroom space.

Built in Bedroom

Hemlock built in bedroom set, including dressers, small corner closet, live edge vanity, linen closet, and old hound dog completes the look.

Basic Shed on a Budget

Just a basic 8x10 shed, rough cut hemlock siding

The $0 chicken coop

Ok, ok so this one isn't so pretty but this little coop was made 100% with reclaimed materials that would have otherwise ended up in the landfill.

Sawmill Rebuild

IMG_5985.jpg

Had to throw a metal fabrication project in. This is a 1960s Foley Belsaw circular sawmill. It existed most of its life with a wooden frame that was prone to twisting and warping. Full rebuild with all steel construction. I have the ability to weld steel, stainless and aluminum for repairs and new items.

While you probably don't have a sawmill project for me to rebuild, I have done tasks like this custom window flower shelf, metal closet organization systems, metal railings, shoe/boot racks, etc. I probably cant compete with IKEA or Wayfair on price but I can come up with something to exactly fit your space and your needs.

All metal, all wood, or a combination of both, if you have a custom piece to fit a specific space and vision lets talk.

Hoof Powered Tasks

Meet Rocky and Apollo, these guys are looking for work as well. If you have a tractor type task that does not require a powered implement and you don't want a tractor there for one reason or another, maybe its too wet, maybe the ground is too soft, or maybe you just hate the noise and use of fossil fuels, these guys might be just the ticket.  For example hauling tasks, light land clearing, garden work, sugaring help. I have a small antique circular sawmill (see above). I do not saw for hire, but if you had a specific job, for example a piece of live edge furniture, and you wanted to be able to say "this item was built from a tree cut on my own property hauled out by oxen, and milled and built locally", we could talk about that. Also available for meet and greet type events and outreach events about draft animal power past and present.
